My project focuses a lot on the struggles that women face in the games industry. The abuse and harassment that women face is one of the biggest problems that the culture faces today, as my final piece will reveal.
But another huge problem is the racism that is present online, especially in huge multiplayer games. It has almost become a stereotype to hear racist abuse in huge games.
One of my interviewees, Dr Kimberly Voll, talked about the sociological reasons for this phenomenon, and her thoughts will be in the print portion of my project.
I did also get the thoughts of someone who has played online games their entire life, Connor Launder. He said that he too gets the short end of the stick at times.
